ERAS Conference 2006 Awards
ERAS Travel Award
Nominations for this award are open to teacher
researchers who are about to complete their Master’s
or Doctoral theses in Education or who have obtained
their MA/MEd or PhD in the last 3 years. ERAS will
sponsor one teacher researcher to attend the AARE
2006 Conference in Adelaide from 27th to 30th of
November 2006 through this award, which comprises of
an economy class return ticket to Adelaide,
assistance in accommodation in Adelaide, per diem
for 4 days, and waiver of AARE Conference Fees
(courtesy of AARE). The winner of this award is
expected to present a paper at the AARE Conference.
ERAS School-Based Research Awards
Nominations for this award are open to teacher
researchers who are actively involved in research in
their school or cluster. Winners of this award will
receive cash prizes of $500, $300, or $100. In
addition, ERAS will waive their registration fees
for the ERAS Conference 2006. The winners are
expected to present a paper at the ERAS Conference
2006. Awardees are expected to present a paper at
the ERAS Conference 2006.
Winners of the above awards will be presented with a
plaque and a Certificate of Achievement at a special
ERAS Awards Ceremony during the ERAS Conference
2006. The names of all winners and their affiliated
educational institutions will also be announced on
the ERAS website.
Criteria for Nomination
Nominees must be current ERAS members who have
registered for the ERAS Conference 2006.
The research must be:
1. of practical benefit to teachers in improving
their school/classroom practices.
2. related to critical educational issues.
3. applicable to the Singapore context.
4. of high quality in terms of purpose, approach,
methodology, originality, and clarity.
5. current (either ongoing or completed within the
last two years).
Required Documents for Nomination
Nominees will submit a brief in support of his/her
nomination comprising the following elements:
1) the attached nomination form (to be signed by the
proposer);
2) a brief curriculum vitae of the nominee;
3) a 3-page (double-spaced) submission of the
research, describing the purpose of the study, its
significance, design, key results, and conclusion;
4) a half-page abbreviated bibliography (please omit
any information allowing identification, e.g., the
name and address of the author/s in both the 3-page
submission and half-page bibliography);
5) the required abstract (of not more than 200
words) for the conference and
6) a photocopy of the completed registration form.
Procedure
The deadline for the submission of nominations and
briefs is Saturday, 24th of December 2005.
A selection panel consisting of the ERAS committee
members will review the material. Shortlisted
nominees will be asked to submit their full papers
by Saturday, 1st April 2006. As part of the
selection process, shortlisted nominees may be
required to give an oral presentation.
There are no restrictions to the number of
nominations per school. The proposer may nominate as
many teacher-researchers from the school as desired.
However, only one ERAS Travel Award/School-Based
Research Award may be given per research study.
