Dear Colleagues and Friends, Knowledge in this new economy is increasingly characterized by the creative integration of information and learning from diverse disciplines. In recent years, psychologists, sociologists, anthropologists, scientists, entrepreneurs and researchers from various fields have shed considerable light on the nature of creativity, innovation and enterprise. In science and technology it is now well recognized that multi-disciplinary pursuits are essential for the advancement of knowledge and applications. Examples can be seen in areas such as biotechnology, telecommunications, material science, nanotechnology, and supercomputers. In industries and business, innovative advances are made often without the benefit of traditional paradigms of learning. The real world thrives on both evolutionary and revolutionary innovations. Education in many w ays need a new science of dealing with knowledge and information, and a new art of learning. The theme for the Educational Research Association of Singapore (ERAS) 2004 Conference is Innovation and Enterprise: Education for the New Economy. This conference promises a gathering of not only teachers and education researchers but also invited panelists from business and industries as well as eminent professors. The ERAS 2004 is an excellent platform for teachers, educators, teacher-educators, education researchers and edu-preneurs to learn, share, network and dialogue on new paradigms and novel ideas for educational practices in the new economy. We look forward to welcoming you to this ERAS Conference 2004!
